Friedrich,
Using the problematic script from "String resource problem in 1180", I
decided to try and move on and get some work done. I copied the script and
used "Refresh String Resources". I inferred from its message I'd have a bit
of a mess to clean up, but didn't expect the behavior that resulted.
After the refresh, a resource group I create in all the scripts, "RSC Text
Data", had its contents removed and replaced with Clarion related install
strings. See sb5.1180.str.resources.png.
I deleted the Clarion garbage and recreated the 26 strings I need for the
install. The result after a compile is in sb5.1180.str.resources.2.png. If
that result isn't obvious, it trashed "RSC Text Data".
This destructive behavior is a real PITA.

Mark
