All,
I need your help. I have attached a command line tool to detect Pentium and AMD processors.
It would be great if you could run the command line tool and let me know
what kind of processor you have and what the tool displays.

Hello Germany!
here is a french opteron for your collection....
BTW: seing the sent data and the known pipeline pbs of the Intel cpu's I am
surprised at the small number of amd chips used but I do not want to "start
a war" here :)

Hi Jean-Pierre...
Yeah, it's best not to go there.. Especially in light of the recently
announced lawsuit which AMD filed against Intel because they've not been
able to effectively market their CPUs and gain an appreciable marketshare...
Intel profits 25 billion, AMD profits, 5 billion... Shees! only 5 billion!

I am also surprised at the small number of AMD's.
Maybe that is why there are so many bugs reported with the IDE....<g>

Unfortunately Ben the number of bugs I get with my dual opterons system
seems to be consistent .... but otherwise what a pleasure to "waist" only
20/25 minutes instead of 1 hour and a half while all the 1000+ procedures
are compiled, but that is part of the 5 billion question no ? :)

Acutally I saw a company although I cant remember the name who is planning
on making a notebook with amd dual core 5000+ for planned release before
christmas. I've been using a note book as my main machine and desktop at
home primarily as a domain controler and backup server. Use to hook
printers up to it and run exchange server on it but dumped those two
functions.

I actually considered that before I bought my current laptop but according
to Tom's hardware metrics the Opteron did not offer much if any performance
advantage over the amd64 which surprised me and I did want a notebook. When
the notebooks with the clear 17" screens came out I was sold. Battery life
stinks but I work plugged in most of the time. Thanks any way.
