The same steps seem to work fine here without any problem. And we did not
receive any similar report.

Don't know what file name you entered for "File Save As...", but I entered
"Your Project Name-2".

I have tested this on Vista Ultimate 32-bit, Vista Ultimate 64-bit, Vista
Business 32-bit, Vista Ultimate 32-bit Service Pack 1 (RTM), and Windows
Server 2008 32-bit (RTM).

BTW, you said "BEFORE the project window refreshes". What does this mean.
The IDE was still busy and you clicked the Compiler Variables Visualizer?

BTW, perhaps it's project file specific. Would it be possible for you to
send me the project (.sb6). Then I'll try to reproduce this with your
script.

Attached scrip .... I was also busy compiling with C6.3 at the same time and
checking emails in outlook, drinking coffee and reading on the chat group
about lorry drivers and girls ...:-)

Vista business 32 bits .... there was quite a delay between save as ... and
the refresh.....using bout 74% of my 2GB ram ...

Maybe this will help narrow it down.....

The 'Save As' File ...(the new one) was already saved....when i went back in
after the crash, it told me the file exists when i tried to do a new 'save
as' again, but it did not appear on the pick list ....

Thank you. To be on the safe side, let me sum up:

1. Start IDE
2. Open "old" project file. I'll rename your Cane200823.sb6 file to
test.sb6
3. File | Save As... | Cane200823.sb6

Your next step is "Save...." now. Does it mean the IDE "saves" now or did
you
save it again (e.g. clicking the Save button).

4. You click on Compiler Variables (save process still busy?) and it
"crashes"
under Vista.

Is the above correct?

Clicked the save button......see attached image ... after clicking the save
button on the image......click immediately on the lefthand side list inside

Aha, that was it. So the error is not really caused by SetupBuilder <bg>.

Thank you. We'll try to reproduce it. We have a Vista Business 32-bit
machine with 2GB RAM.

BTW, can you reproduce it at will with your script? Or did it only happen
once (does not make it better, of course). Haven't seen a SetupBuilder GPF
for several months now.

Aha, okay. Perfect. Then perhaps it's some kind of "timing" issue. Both
actions are running on different threads. What might happen is that the
save process is still busy and clicking on the "Compiler Variables" starts
the read (or refresh data) action. BANG.

We'll try to reproduce it. I have opened a ticket now.

I cannot reproduce this problem on any of our Vista 32-bit machines :-( I
even tried to click several times on the "Visualizer List", but the IDE does
not crash here.

I loaded your Cane200824.sb6 (IDE is maximized). Then "Save As..." to
Cane200825.sb6 and, as fast as I can, click an item on the Visualizer List.

In another test, I accepted the Save button in the "Save As..." dialog with
the Enter key and immediately (mouse) clicked on the Visualizer List. No
crash :-(

Could you please try the following:

Tools | Options... | Preferences Tab

Set "Start Screen" to "General Information".

Then try to reproduce the problem again. Does it still crash?

That does the trick ... I can not get it to crash ..... It was on 'Default'

Switch back to 'Default' and it crashes...

Okay, then it really seems to be a "timing issue". In your first
screenshot, you have selected the "Compiler Variables" tab but we still see
the (empty) "Files and Folders" view.

IMO, the IDE is busy loading file details. And that's why I can't reproduce
it here with your script. Your project does not link to valid files here on
our machines and so it cannot load the file details.

I'll analyze our source codes...

Unfortunately, we were unable to reproduce this. But we have added a new
function to do "synchronization" and perhaps this helps. Am I allowed to
send you a test sbuilder.exe?
