Hi,
Is there a way to delete a shortcut that was previously placed on the
desktop? We have changed the name of the program and need to rename or
delete the previous desktop shortcut.
Thanks,

Hi Tony,
I'm pretty sure I'm correct in saying that any shortcut is identified
as ShortcutName.LNK so you could use the SB5 script function "Get
Special folder path" to "CSIDL_DESKTOP" then use that with the SB5
script function "Delete Local File(s)" to remove it. You would
probably do this in the script somewhere before adding the new
shortcut.

Two challenges, though...
SB allows you to specify whether a shortcut is put in an individual user's
profile or the All Users profile, which are different folders.
If the user renames the shortcut (say, changing 'Geoff's Super Wonderful
App' to 'Super App'), the LNK filename will change.

You could also wait a few months or so for windows to say "Pardon me,
but did you know that there are unused icons yada yada yada"<g>
