View Full Version : Well I must be stupid! Using SB5 Developer

Sorry to say, I must be stupid, I have a few brick walls, yes I read the
manual - maybe I'm stupid or the changes from SB4 is terminology I don't
yet figure. there has to be a simple answer to:

1: Where do I password the install (not the Project)
Searching the manual, it appears related to the "Zip" and damned if I
can find any reference to Zip in the project.

1b: Adding a Dialog, I have two choices "Check Boxs" and "Combo Box" how
do I add "Password" as in the example?

2: The sample calls the Setup Types and gives the user options to
tick/untick, I can't manage to call that.

Sorry folk, maybe a beer will make it more fun ;-)

1. Add "Password" dialog
2. Open Password Dialog Properties -> Advanced Tab -> Enter password in
the "Protect Install with Password" field and mark the "Auto-verify
Password" checkbox

For example, "Checkbox Text" field: Password

Add a "Custom Install" dialog after your Setup Type dialog.

Does this help?

How Friedrich?
"Add" gives me the attached options.

> Password" checkbox

Would love to be able to do that. Version 5.0.1201
When I highlight "Logo Wizard" and press "Add"
I then select (only 3 options) as you see in
Dialog_overwrites_Welcome.jpg but this (on save) replaces the "Welcome"
Dialog.

I know I'm doing something stupid, but what?

Can't see an option to enter "field"

One at a time, if I can get the first step then the rest will fit.

Correct. Add displays a combo box. Just select the "Password" dialog ;-)
See ron1.gif

Please select the Advanced tab. See ron2.gif

Thanks for all your effort, but there is a (very basis) problem here.
There is absolutely no way that I can open anything like what you sent
me in ron1.gif.

Your "Define Wizard Dialog has a long list of choices, as I said
previously, mine has ONLY two (2) choices - see Dialogue.gif.

This is surely GOOD news, once we know why I do not have all the choices
you display, I can compare on the same level and move forward.

Thanks Friedrich

Ron,

Sorry, I have never seen this before. Are you running NT4?

Thanks,
Friedrich

Ron,

Just checked our development documentation. In a later SB5 build
(internal release #1215) we included a workaround to overcome a
Windows 9x bug. If you are using the SB5 IDE on a 9x Windows version
then the drop down and combo boxes will work fine for you in the
final SB5 release.

Friedrich,

I get the same "stingy" non drop-down with Windows 2000 SP4, SB5 developer
1201 (attached).
And like Ron... quite a while back I had my 'duh' moment when I realized
there were additional choices that could be scrolled down.

Jane,

Looks like you were more adventurous - thanks for the post, it confirms
that I need to be more inquisitive ;-)

After all it does work, so that's a good thing.

Jane,

Thank you. I tested this with the latest internal version (#1231) and it
worked fine on Win2000. So it should be fixed - it was caused by the XP
manifest resource; SB5 source code modification in the internal release
#1215 to fix this. I can confirm that I was able to reproduce this with
#1201 on Windows 98 and 2000.

Friedrich,

It was late (I do sleep some times) so I just got your messages.

I'm using Win 2K (not 9x)
Should I move to a XP machine? XP is a dog (typical MS) but Y2K isn't
very good either, I do have one PC running XP (Pro) so maybe I should
move to that.

I noticed you said I can Scroll-down, no room to scroll (as you can see)
but the down button does get me there step by step, so I'm satisfied to
accept this as a "special feature for Ron" . . . I told you I was stupid ;-)

Thanks Friedrich, much appreciated!

Ron,

I can confirm that there was a combo box problem in SB5 #1201 (SB5 IDE only,
not the compiled executables!). This has already been fixed.

We have tested the very latest SB5 on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, XP, 2003 and
Vista today and it works fine. The final SB5 version will be available very
soon.

Thanks,
Friedrich

Ron,

BTW, I think you can "scroll down" to select another dialog.

Friedrich,

Thanks. I thought it was a weird design, but once I figured out how to
reach the other dialog types I didn't seem to feel it was worth complaining
about (I do enough of that anyway <G>)
