Friedrich, I am receiving an error#: 0006:00000 when I try to update my
Clarion Desktop. I am not looking for support on the product, I would just
like to know what the error means and maybe I can fix the problem myself.

Note: Gary, I left a message on your forum almost 3 weeks ago with no
response (and I am not the only one with this error).

Michael,

I have found it is just as easy to download the full install from the
Clarion Desktop web site (http://www.clariondesktop.com/) when you run into
web update problems with Clarion Desktop.

Thank you for the response. Downloading and installing did update the
software and it appears that I did not lose any of my settings.

Michael,

IIRC - there was a post in the NG's about the error the day the update was
released and a reply about the need for a full download to fix it the same
day.

I had the same problem and fixed it that way.

Perhaps you just missed it.

The SetupBuilder loader ("stub") error 0006:0000 is reported if the
SetupBuilder installation loader was unable to link into the main
SetupBuilder installation engine. What happens is the GetProcAddress()
Windows API fails to retrieve the address of the exported "RunInstaller"
SetupBuilder installer engine function.

Do you see this error if you check for updates ("Check for Updates to
Clarion Desktop") or in the "real" web installer ("Welcome to the Clarion
Desktop Setup Wizard")?

Just checked this on Vista SP1 and Clarion Desktop updated fine here.

Friedrich, I was getting the error when I clicked on the download icon that
is enabled when a new update is available.

Aha, okay. Unfortunately, I don't know what is done behind-the-scenes in
the ClarionDesktop application when the download icon is clicked.

Do you have an XP or Vista machine?

I think Charles (and I posted the same) posted the correct answer for his
problem - Gary James had a bad web update, and the only way to fix it was
with a full download.

Matter of fact, the Clarion Desktop web update has been inconsistent at
other times as well, so full download is the answer for most.
