Im been tryng your software on XP without problems of any kind. I downloaded
the program on a Vista machine which is the OS we will be working on to
install and try it.
These error messages came

setupbuilder 6.7
[1] variable name too long
script line:

setupbuilder 6.7.2163
This applicationhas encountered a problem and needs to close
Please contact the vendor of this installation
error # 0007:0005

Is something wrong with the program or is Vista? ...Again...

Lynn,

I assume it's a specific thing in your script. What you can do is, ask your
customer to run the installer with the /E command line switch and send you
the c:\sbevents.txt file. Then forward it to me (including your original
..sb6 project). Maybe this gives us more information.

Start -> Run... -> In the run dialog, enter the fully qualified pathname
including installer name with the /E switch. For example: c:\test\setup.exe
/E

If it is a "long" pathname, put double quotes around it. For example:
"c:\my long path\setup.exe" /E

BTW, can you reproduce it on your machine? If yes, send me the sbevents.txt
from your machine.

Thought you were in at the Baltic seaside. <G>

His last comment is:

"I downloaded to the desktop and as soon as I double click the installation
program the error appears"

Doesn't happen on my machine. Asked him to re-download. I let you know the
results.

Thanks!

If it does not "fix" it, ask him to send the sbevents.txt

PS Why would different machines have a problem with the same install?

Lynn,

Different machines can cause different run time flows. It depends on the OS
edition, patch level, add-on level, etc., etc.

And of course, it can be caused by "protection software" products. Perhaps
his virus scanner it a little bit too protective.

From my client:

"Downloaded it again and it works find. Before I did that, I ran Windows
update and installed a bunch of Microsoft updates. Apparently those updates
of the great Vista Software, did the trick. For your information so you can
help others if this happen again"

Now you (and I) don't have to worry while you're on the beach.
