SetupBuilder 7 Beta Registration is open!

All,

Registration for those interested in participating in the SetupBuilder 7
Beta Program opened today. You can register for the program at
http://www.lindersoft.com/support_betaregistration.htm.

Customers with an active SetupBuilder subscription are eligible to
participate. If you do not have an active subscription plan, please contact
your account manager at sales@lindersoft.com.

Our Maintenance and Support Subscription Plan ensures that you will always
have the latest version of your licensed installation product without any
additional cost during the term of the Plan. Customers who purchase a new
SetupBuilder 6.9 Developer Edition with a 1-year Gold Subscription or
Professional Edition with a 6-month Silver or 1-year Gold Subscription on
and after September 01, 2008, will receive the final SetupBuilder 7 free of
charge as part of their subscription plan.

The SetupBuilder 7 Beta Program is scheduled to run from October 13, 2008,
to January 16, 2009.

IE8 Beta2 ... I filled in the details and pressed the submit button ...

got an error that the action on the page was not POST.

Pressed the 'back button'

Press submit again .. and posted correctly.

Thanks for the information. I think it's a IE8 thing because we are using a
standard web form delivery script to submit data.

Well, the official statement is (this will be in the beta notifications):

"Please note that SetupBuilder 7 is BETA software. It is still being tested
and developed and features may change in future release versions. If you
are not comfortable running BETA software then please DO NOT download
SetupBuilder 7 until it has been more thoroughly tested."

And from the Beta Registration Form:

"As a prospective beta participant do you agree to:

[X] Test in a non-production environment"

But SetupBuilder 7 will be fully backward compatible with SB6 - we are
working on SB6 and SB7 simultaneously. So SB7 "should" not break existing
(stable) SB6 features and functionalities.

If your install compiled with SB7 works fine then feel free to distribute it
to your customers.

The real beta testing begins next month, so I am sure (or I hope <g>) you'll
not miss a single SB7 beta ;-)

2. Support for Windows Installer (MSI)
3. Support for Mobile Devices

SetupBuilder 7 provides more than 50 new features.

There are three beta phases planned. We'll always test one fundamental new
technology and several new features per beta phase.

At the moment, LAN Update is scheduled for testing in Beta-2.

Sorry for the delay. If you have not heard anything by now then your
request is still waiting in the queue. Reviewing the requests and sending
out the initial beta registration notifications is a manual process and
takes longer than expected.

PAD file creation feature is scheduled for Beta-2, Mobile Device Package
Support for Beta-3.

There are three fundamental new technologies in SetupBuilder 7:

1. Visual Dialog Editor (VDE)

The main goal of SB7 Beta-1 is to test the brand new "custom dialog"
technology. This is the heart of the new installer engine ("sbkernel 7").

SetupBuilder 7.0 Beta-1 will include the following:

- New SetupBuilder installer kernel 7.0
- Support for custom dialogs
- Support for custom dialog control events
- DPI-aware installer support
- New Visual Dialog Editor
- New Environment Variables Visualizer
- New Firewall Exceptions Visualizer
- Enhanced command line compiler support
- Additional compiler directives
- Several minor enhancements and fixes
